World of Warcraft Best Warlock Pre-Raiding Gear Guide
Pre-raiding WoW warlocks are fortunate enough to have little options when it comes to the best gear they can get off instances, BoE drops or craftables. Depending on your spec, you will want to go for a specific piece of item, but I will list a few alternatives to choose from so that you're not bound to a single item in the game that you might find it hard to get (you know, the "I grinded Arcatraz 20 times and didn't get <item>" routine).
Take note that this warlock pre-raiding gear list is not necessarily an "100% best" since a series of items are only good if your playing style and spec can make the most of it. You will also have to get "placeholder" items until you can get that really good (and potentially expensive or hard to get) item on a slot. For example, if you're going for the Frozen Shadowweave Set, which will most likely suck out the WoW gold out of your avatar's pockets quickly, you will have to grind for a placeholder Shoulder, Feet and Chest item until you can make each piece of the set.

The following warlock pre-raiding items are some that I consider to be best before Karazhan or Gruul's Lair, which are 10 and 25 man raid instances respectively, so they're bound to have better stuff (although it's not always the case as you will find out).

The high Stamina of Battlecast makes it tempting for any lock, regardless of spec, but take note that Spellstrike has higher Spell Effects and Damage, although the sheer stats on it are lower. You also have several options for placeholders until you get the BoE craftables, as you can see below. Anyway, if you think you'll be using a head item for some time, get a [Glyph of Power] enchanted on it for an extra boost:

One good start-up trinket to replace those old level 60 ones, [Vengeance of the Illidari], can be acquired from a group quest in Hellfire Peninsula. If you're a destruction lock with gear based on Spell Crit Chance, the [Shiffar's Nexus-Horn] should be one of your main targets, as it becomes an awesome weapon in the hands of a crit-based lock. It's also a good choice for people that don't like trinkets with 'Use' abilities, simply because they forget to use them :). Alliance players will find the [Glowing Crystal Insignia], a quest reward in Zangarmarsh extremely useful for a while, despite being a greenie. For the other pocket (or wherever World of Warcraft characters keep their trinkets), you should aim for either [Quagmirran's Eye] in Slave Pens Heroic (Heroic Coilfang instances have some of the best pre-raid Warlock drops anyway) or [Icon of the Silver Crescent], obtainable with Heroic badges. [Figurine - Living Ruby Serpent] does have great stats for a trinket, but no passive spell damage or spell crit and its 'Use' ability is not that great and on a long 5 min cooldown:
