Rogue Outland Gear Guide

Ah the great Outland, home to many a stealthy gank, deceitful ninja loot and dishonorable kill. The perfect place for a rogue to be in :) You've grinded your way up here, now it's showtime. I discussed in another article how to gear your rogue up through levels 1-60, so hopefully you already have a clue about what gear a rogue needs and you have made a choice on the weapon combo you're going to use. Outland gives you some juicy stuff to work with, but it's equally true that most of the gear will be hard fought for by a rogue, seeing how every warrior will be fury/arms and every paladin will be a retridin. Hellfire Ramparts offers the first cool items, with the Bracers of Finesse being a quality choice to replace your weary old bracers from Azeroth. A couple of very interesting items, from a rogue perspective, that you can find in Hellfire Ramparts are the Garrote String Necklace and the Shifting Sash of Midnight, which was my first gemmed item in The Burning Crusade (red gem slots are yum). I would advise you to grind for these three and show no remorse when ninjalooting rolling for them. If you're dagger spec'd, grind Slave Pens a lot at level 62ish. The Wastewalker Shiv is an awesome item due to its (still) rare +hit factor and the extra stamina. Too bad it's unique, but by this time you should probably already have a decent dagger to use in your other hand. The Underbog offers less of a treat for a rogue, gear-wise, but it might be useful to grind it a few times, if only for those nifty Skulldugger's Leggings which should serve quite some time now, with their 3 gemmable slots and hit rating stat. On to the 4 instances in Auchinosomething (yeah, I can never spell it, sue me....). In mana tombs, amongst other relatively useful items, I would like to highlight the Longstrider's Loop, one of the finest rings you can find at this level. Since it's not unique-equipped, you can try grinding for a pair, that is if you haven't bought/grinded something more effective so far (such as the Ring of the Exarchs from Exarch Maladaar in Crypts). And speaking of the lovely Exarch, he drops two more items that are extremely useful for a rogue, making him one of the most hunted target in Outland by our kind: The Fetish of the Fallen trinket and the Darkguard Face Mask (which not only has awesome stats, but is also a killer with the ladies). When you reach level 66 or so, you will have it a lot easier to gear up as a rogue, because the options will be almost limitless. There are so many useful items in the level 66-70 instances it's almost a spoiler to list them here. What I would suggest is that you gear up with whatever drops and speed through to level 70, where you should try to repeatedly grind Magister's Terrace (normal first, then move on to Heroic) as you can get some awesome epics such as the Sunrage Treads (normal), the Quickening Blade of the Prince (heroic) or the ever popular Shard of Contempt (yeah I know it's frustrating to grind it with the tank or support melee ninjaing it from you, but keep going for it, it's well worth it). Good luck fellow stalkers of shadows!
