World of Warcraft Priest Gear – General Notes |
 In World of Warcraft (and even more so in World of Warcraft The Burning Crusade), Priest gear is harder to balance out, since, unlike other classes we have to evaluate several values of an item to get the best gear setup.
Spirit, mana per 5 second regeneration, +healing, Intelect and spell critical chance can all be a factor when choosing out your priest gear.

Take note that it’s very important to coordinate your gear to your spec and playing style. For example, if you have the Spiritual Healing talent in the Holy tree, Spirit becomes even more important than it normally is.
Your playing style in World of Warcraft also affects the type of gear you should choose. If you’re the type of priest that casts constantly, a large mana pool and in-combat mana regeneration are very important. If you are able to avoid the 5-second-rule (after 5 seconds of non-casting, you gain full spirit regeneration) then go for loads of spirit gear over mp5.
For shadow priests it’s a bit easier to choose gear, but it’s harder to get it since +shadow gear is rarer than +spell damage gear. Always aim for +shadow gear over spell damage since it has higher values. For raiding shadow priests, mp5 gear could also be useful, but your main focus should still be on shadow damage, since the more damage you will do, the more mana you will absorb out of your Vampiric Touch (and life from your Vampiric Embrace of course).
