World of Warcraft - Priest Addon Guide |

For many players, addons are simply a commodity to make their life in Azeroth easier. For most priests on the other hand, addons are often crucial, especially in PVE and they can make a difference between a wipe and a successful boss defeat.
I’ve gathered up a few addons that I found useful for my priest and I’ll give you a short description to them as well as a link to go get them from. Let’s begin:
|
This is one of the most popular raiding mods out there and you’ll probably need this even if you’re not a priest, but if you’re a priest you get to use the CT Raid Assist Addon to its fullest. Besides making your User Interface heal-friendly, CTRA also features a resurrection monitor that allows you to see who’s ressing who, so you don’t waste time and mana on the same target. Most raiding guilds deem the CT Raid Assist mod as a must-have during raid encounters and it’s one of the most useful priest addons you’ll deal with.
Clique is an overall useful World of Warcraft addon that allows you to bind keys or mouse buttons to any actions or spells, in an easy fashion so you won’t have to use a boatload of commands to get it working. I found it one of the best priest addons around since you can bind a heal spell or buff to a button than simply click on a target to cast it. Example: Bind “right mouse button” to Flash Heal rank 4, then right click on your targets to heal them.
This priest-only WoW addon pops a bar showing the target holding the Prayer of Mending you cast as well as its duration. It’s easy to keep track on who will get an instantaneous heal from your Prayer of Mending with the help of Mendwatch and even more importantly, it allows you to recast it when needed.
Another raiding must-have for priests, KLH Threatmeter allows you to see your position in the threat top and it will also show you where the “pull aggro danger area” is, allowing you to lay down your heals for a bit and avoid a risky aggro-ninja feat. Since aggro is a problem for priests in intense fights, this World of Warcraft addon should not miss from any PVE raiding priest’s repertoire of mods.
Vampwatch is specifically designed for shadow priests, so you can skip this if you’re not shadow specced. What this WoW addon does is it shows how much mana you returned to your party with the help of Vampiric Touch and although it’s not essential, it’s a nice way to figure out exactly how much you’re helping your teammates in a raid (and of course, give you bragging rights on how you saved the raid and so forth).
We all know what a nuisance buffing is in raids for a priest, so Sacred Buff is a good WoW mod to make your life easier. Besides having a nice graphical setup, unlike many other buff mods, Sacred Buff allows you to see who’s missing what and also cast your buffs in an easy fashion so you’ll avoid those whining “sta plx” whispers.
Shackle Watch is a situational WoW addon, but it comes very handy in raids where your job is to shackle a target (Karazhan for example). Shackle Watch will display a timer bar showing you how much before your Shackle fades away and the timer will disappear in case the shackle breaks.
Although many Unitframe WoW mods will show you which of your raid members are afflicted by what at any given moment, Decursive does it best and it’s a worthy addition for any priest. Decursive only shows debuffs that you can remove (disease and magic) and also has a built-in interface that allows you to cleanse someone with a simple click (casting the appropriate spell).
A smart holy priest will have Healsync installed, regardless of what he’s raiding. Healsync is a great healing WoW mod allowing you to see who’s casting what heal on your current target as well as allowing you to see the heals that are incoming towards you. This way, you can adjust your own healing, so that you don’t waste mana triggering a heal a second after someone else has hit the spot. Healsync comes even more useful if you don’t have enough consumables on you or if your gear lacks mana regeneration stats. Note: Healsync’s dependency is IFrameManager .
Chronometer is useful in both PVE and PVP, as it allows you to see exactly how much time your Renew, Shadow Word Pain, Vampiric Embrace, Vampiric Touch, Touch of Weakness and buffs have before they fade away.
