World of Warcraft - Druid WOW Addons Guide
One of the things that used to make druids unappealing to me is the sheer amount of information you need to get used to in order to play them right. Much like warriors, changing stances at the right time, remembering stance button hotkeys, knowing how changing stances/shapes will affect you in your current situation and gearing specifically for a particular stance all seemed more than I could handle. I’m more of a straightforward kind of guy; give me a frostbolt smashing mage any time over a class that has you remembering 30 different hotkeys in order to play right. While the fact that druids are complex and hard to get used to still hasn’t change, you can actually do yourself a world of good by knowing what addons to pick. Sure, every elitist player will tell you it’s not the addons that make you a good player, it’s the skill, but in a druid’s case, addons are essential components. I compiled a list of what I think are some of the most useful druid wow addons out there, if anyone cares to take a peek: Druid Bar – it’s really annoying not knowing how much mana you have while you’re shapeshifted. Especially in PVP it’s crucial to know exactly how much mana you can count on and wether or not you have enough to re-shape again. Druid Bar gives you the opportunity to track your mana through a sleek, movable bar, regardless of the shape you’re in. DruidStats – Gearing up is a pain, especially as a feral druid and you’ll have to do a lot of pen-on-paper calculations to find out what’s best for your stats…or do you? Nope, wait, you don’t, DruidStats calculates your stats taking into account your equipped items, talents and shape into account. Try it, seriously. Rewatch – Resto raiding is all about getting your HoT combo in at the perfect time, but keeping track of your HoTs isn’t really the easiest task. Rewatch to the rescue: finally an addon that keeps track of your liveblooms, rejuves, regrowth and healthbar of your target. I’d really be dissapointed if you didn’t try this one out as PVE restoration. Drood Focus – What other wow addon changes your portrait into a radioactive green-glowing bear AND keeps track of your energy ticks, combo points, rage, health and mana? Drood focus is not only a fun addon, it’s an extremely useful one, placing all the information you need as feral in a box of around 200x 150 pixels big. StanceSets – Having your bags full of various types of gear is something you must cope with as a druid. No addon can help you with that, however you can get StanceSets for switching gear around easily. There are some other quality addons that acomplish this, I know, but I prefer StanceSets for its configurability.
Well that’s my list, hope you find it useful. While these addons will fix some of your problems as a druid, you shouldn’t rely solely on them when playing. Role specific addons such as threatmeters, healing aids or tanking addons should be set up as well, but I didn’t mention that in more detail, since it’s just stating the obvious. Have fun!
